At EFCCL, our Children’s disciple-making ministry partners with parents to help them train and disciple each child so they can become a Christ-follower who contributes to the next generation. We provide a loving, fun, and safe environment where children will develop physically, emotionally, and spiritually! Our ministries offer age-appropriate activities and relevant Bible teaching.

EFCCL is about transforming people to impact their world through Christ. Believers follow Christ, connect in community, and make disciples who make disciples. As we move toward a whole church emphasis on making disciples, Children’s Disciple-making wants to increase engagement with parents and volunteers as disciple-makers and with kids as disciples. To begin this emphasis, the staff has determined key spiritual milestones for children (birth-18), identified stages of parenting, and created a series of parenting classes and parent-child experiences.

Our goal is for children and their entire family to receive Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in faith, being rooted and built up in Christ through the ministry of the church. We want to strengthen families in the faith. The end result is overflowing with thankfulness—worship to our Lord—that overflows into the community. Our vision is to reach families within our own neighborhoods with the great news of forgiveness and reconciliation through Christ.

Sunday Mornings // 9:00 am // Room 123-125

Popcorn 45 is the Sunday school class for 4th and 5th graders. As Christ followers, we should allow the truths we have learned as children to change our lives. 4th and 5th grades can be a time to transition from concrete knowledge to applying God’s truth to their worlds. It is a phase in life to develop some initial independence. So where does popcorn fit in? Think about how popcorn starts:  a single kernel of corn, that once it is exposed to extreme heat, bursts inside out, never to return to the shape or color of corn again. We want our students to be completely changed by the gospel, never turning back again.

What is taught? Popcorn 45 content is repeated every 2 years. Students learn Bible navigation skills, note-taking skills, and study skills as they wrestle with practical theology. We use the Deeply Rooted Curriculum, which provides an encounter with Christ through Scripture, a transformational unit based on the character of God, and a discipleship unit that builds students' faith ownership as they learn to trust God more in a particular area (CLICK HERE for a study guide). For February, we will do a unit on friendship—a transformational unit based on Emmanuel God with Us. Preteens will know as believers they are friends of God and will build stronger and more meaningful friendships. In March, we will do a disciple-making unit on defending the faith. Preteens will grow closer to Emmanuel as they practice giving reasons for the hope they have. We start forming small groups to wrestle with some practical application of these truths. Each Sunday we will worship through singing, giving, reading Scripture and “popcorn” prayers.
