“Shine the Light” Missions Weekend 2026 | November 6-8

“You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others..” (Matthew 5:14-16)

Why do we dedicate a whole weekend to missions?

It’s simple: missions is important.

Jesus gave His followers a clear mission: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18–20). He also told us, “You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:14–16). Our Shine the Light Missions Weekend is an opportunity to consider what those commands mean for each of us. Jesus died for people from every nation and culture, and every believer has a part in sharing the good news of Jesus—across the world and across the street.

In prior years, our Family Missions Experience has helped children discover what missionaries do, where they serve, and how God is at work around the world. As parents participated alongside their children, we saw something bigger happen: the experience also helped adults grow in their own understanding of God’s heart for the nations. Because of this, we have expaned the experience to include our entire church family.

We are excited to create an opportunity for every generation at EFCCL to encounter missions together!

Missions Experience Details:

During the Missions Experience, circulate through the building, meet and talk personally with missionaries, and choose two or three LEARNING AREAS that interest you. Step into environments representing different places and cultures, enjoy food and hands-on activities, hear firsthand stories of cross-cultural living and ministry, and discover the many ways God uses His Church to send, support, pray, serve, and proclaim the gospel.

You can also visit the interactive prayer experience, where activities invite you to pray for the light of the gospel to spread locally and around the world. Families are also invited to pick up a copy of the children’s book God’s Great Big Global Church by Tim Challies, a wonderful resource for continuing the conversation at home.

Our hope is that you leave with a bigger picture of the Great Commission, and one clear idea of how God is calling you to shine His light.
