The Role of the Global Outreach Advisory Board

The Global Outreach Advisory Board (GOAB) serves as a vital leadership and advisory body that partners with the Global Outreach Coordinator (GOC) to help EFCCL fulfill its biblical calling to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18–20).

Rooted in prayer and guided by Scripture, the Board provides spiritual insight, strategic direction, oversight, and encouragement for all of EFCCL’s global missions efforts. Its primary aim is to ensure that every global outreach initiative reflects the church’s mission—to build passionate disciples of Jesus Christ—and to advance the spread of the gospel around the world.

Spiritual and Strategic Leadership

  • Prayer and Discernment: The Board seeks God’s wisdom through prayer, asking for His direction in how EFCCL can most effectively participate in His global mission.

  • Vision and Alignment: The Board provides counsel to the GOC to ensure that global outreach efforts align with EFCCL’s mission, vision, and core values, reflecting our church’s desire to obey Christ and make His name known among the nations.

  • Strategic Planning: Working under the oversight of the GOC, the Board assists in developing and refining EFCCL’s global missions strategy. This includes defining ministry priorities, identifying focus regions, and discerning the most effective ways to partner in gospel-centered work such as evangelism, church planting, leadership development, and compassionate service.

Missionary Care and Support

  • Missionary Selection: While the GOC holds final responsibility, the Board helps review and recommend missionary candidates and ministry partners for EFCCL support. Each candidate’s doctrine, ministry philosophy, and sending organization are evaluated for alignment with EFCCL’s Statement of Faith and ministry values.

  • Missionary Care: The Board supports systems that provide spiritual, emotional, and practical care for missionaries through prayer, communication, financial partnership, and assistance during furloughs or transitions.

  • Accountability and Connection: The Board fosters ongoing relationships with supported missionaries, maintaining communication, offering encouragement, and keeping the EFCCL congregation informed and engaged in their ministries.

Congregational Engagement

  • Education and Awareness: The Board works to keep global outreach at the forefront of EFCCL’s church life through regular updates, storytelling, and special events such as Global Outreach Sundays.

  • Mobilization: The Board encourages members of all ages to actively participate in missions through prayer, financial support, short-term trips, and discerning possible long-term calls to cross-cultural ministry.

  • Relationship Building: The Board helps create personal connections between missionaries and the EFCCL family, fostering a shared sense of partnership in the gospel and making global missions a visible and vital part of our church community.

Stewardship and Oversight

  • Budget and Financial Stewardship: The Board assists the GOC in planning and overseeing the global outreach budget, ensuring that resources entrusted to EFCCL are managed wisely and used to further gospel impact worldwide.

  • Evaluation and Accountability: The Board periodically reviews partnerships, projects, and policies to ensure effectiveness, sustainability, and alignment with EFCCL’s mission and outreach strategy.

  • Policy Development: The Board collaborates with the GOC to develop and maintain clear policies and procedures for missionary support, short-term mission trips, and special outreach initiatives.

Prayer and Advocacy

At the heart of the Global Outreach Advisory Board’s work is prayer. The Board serves as a team of advocates for God’s global mission, interceding for missionaries, global partners, and unreached people groups. Members also encourage and equip the congregation to pray faithfully for God’s work around the world.

The GOAB actively champions missions throughout the ministries of EFCCL, ensuring that the Great Commission remains central to the church’s identity and practice. Through their leadership and example, they help the church live out its calling to be a sending and supporting body that proclaims Christ to the nations.

Our Heart for the Nations

The Global Outreach Advisory Board exists to serve Christ by advancing His mission through EFCCL. Every decision, partnership, and effort flows from our desire to see lives transformed by the gospel and to bring glory to God among all peoples.

“Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples” (Psalm 96:3).
