A New Year Resolution

Yield Yourself to God

"God, I want to give You every minute of this year. I shall try to keep You in mind every moment of my waking hours. I shall try to let my hand write what You direct. I shall try to let You be the speaker and direct every word. I shall try to let You direct my acts. I shall try to learn Your language as it was taught by Jesus and all others through whom You speak — in beauty and singing birds and cool breezes, in radiant Christlike faces, in sacrifices and tears. It will cost not only much, but everything that conflicts with this resolve."

Learn to Influence Your Culture

Friday, November 21, 2008

How has the feminist movement influenced our culture? Do you know the difference between the true woman and the new woman? What are you?

Beginning Sunday, November 23, the Women of Influence ABF will examine these topics in the months to come. It is time to take back our culture instead of letting the culture change us. We meet in Room 235 during the second service.

I recently attended the True Woman '08 Conference in Schaumburg, IL, sponsored by Revive Our Hearts and hosted by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. 6,000 women from across the world were challenged to change the culture and not let the culture change us.

We were reminded that "a revolution has taken place in how women view themselves and their roles, how they view men, how they view their families, and how they function in our culture. Women have come to view 'success' as maintaining their independence, achieving in their careers, and throwing off moral restraints . . . The feminist revolution was supposed to bring women greater fulfillment and freedom.

"We were also made aware that the vast majority of Christian women have bought into the new way of thinking. And what has been the result? We see the fruit of the feminist revolution in women who are sinking in the quagmire of divorce and remarriage, in trying to juggle the demands of their jobs, function as parents, and remain active at church."

Two and a half days of attending this conference stirred within my heart a clarion call to do all I can, with God's help, to educate and challenge the women in my sphere of influence to God's call of biblical womanhood. Will you stand with me and pray for me? This is not the politically correct thing to do.

Forty years ago the first national conference of National Organization for Women was held in Chicago with 200 attending. Look what has transpired with this small group of women and a passion for their cause. I wonder what God will do with the 6,000 women who accepted the challenge to be counter cultural to this generation!

Please log on to www.truewoman.com to find out more about this. Also, you will soon be able to find out about opportunities and resources at my blog. I would love to hear from you.
