Caring Ministries seeks to address everyday needs and to help people work through the hurts and pains of life. Our purpose is to provide biblically-based approaches that allow you to more fully experience the love, power, and healing of God in your lives and relationships.
We offer counseling, support groups, recovery groups, and more.
If you are in a season of life where you need some encouragement or someone to talk to, EFCCL has trained "Encouragers" in place to meet with you. Click here to learn more
We offer pastoral, intern, or lay counseling for individuals and families (usually up to 12 sessions). This is biblically based and Christ-centered counseling, pointing people to the words of Jesus and principles of the Bible. Talk to us about depression, anxiety, abuse recovery, addictions recovery, anger problem resolution, relationship difficulties, divorce, grief, and loss. Low-cost and scholarship-funded counseling sessions are also available.
As needed, we can also provide professional assessments and referrals for psychological testing, psychiatric treatment, and other additional support.
Celebrate Recovery is a twelve-step, Christ-centered recovery program that meets weekly on Friday evenings. Stop by for a visit (the large group meeting starts at 7:00 pm) or view the full schedule and more information about Celebrate Recovery.
Support and Recovery Groups
We offer a number of weekly support and recovery groups. Topics covered include the following: abuse, anger, anxiety and/or depression, chemical dependency, grief, sexual addiction, and more.

Benevolent (Financial) Assistance
Everyone encounters financial problems from time to time and for various reasons. We seek to address those needs in a redemptive, personal, effective, and efficient way that honors God. Our goal as we evaluate incoming requests is to remain good stewards of His monies.
All persons seeking help must complete an application for each request and then meet with one of our teams. To apply, visit the church office between Tuesday and Friday, 9:30 am to 4 pm. We strongly recommend that interested parties call (815-459-1095) before visiting to confirm that we still have appointments available.
Safe Families for Children Program
When a crisis strikes, many of us rely on relatives and friends for support. But for some parents, this is
not an option. Safe Families provides a loving, temporary home for children whose parents are in a crisis situation. EFCCL is launching this new program in our church as an opportunity for you to serve.
Here are ways you could help:
- Be a Host Family and open your home to children in need
- Be a Mentor for parents to support them in making necessary changes in their lives
- Be a Resource Friend and provide assistance such as baby-sitting, transportation, or even lawn care
- Make home support visits to relatives or friends already caring for children
- Be a part of the Church Leadership Team

Freedom Prayer Warriors
Our Freedom Prayer Warriors meet monthly for a time of education about and prayer against human trafficking. Join us the third Sunday of the month from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the home of Maryanne Shanholtz.
Hope Visitation is a volunteer-based ministry, reaching out to the seniors in our church family, particularly those who are lonely and in need of our encouragement and hope. We see an opportunity to express the love and hope that is in Jesus Christ through the following areas:
- Home visitation
- Nursing home visitation
- Hospital visitation
If you are interested in serving or know of someone who might benefit from this ministry, please contact Steve Yeschek.
