Adult Bible Fellowships

Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs)

An Introduction

Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) are smaller communities within our larger church family that are committed to knowing and applying God's Word together in the context of warm and caring fellowship. Most ABFs meet weekly on Sunday mornings, but they also band together through periodic socials, outreach projects, and missions trips. For a full listing, see the schedule below or download the 2012-2013 ABF brochure (PDF).

All of our ABFs are open to newcomers and visitors at any time. Stop by and see which group you connect with the most! Our ABF coordinator, Joe See, is also happy to talk with you to give you more information about the groups and help you decide where you can best serve and be served. Give Joe a call at 815.356.3810 or connect via email at asee@att.net.

12:1

10:45 a.m. on Sundays • Room 234

College-aged students and young professionals are invited to a study of the book of Romans with this ABF and its leader, Jacob Bishop. The group derives its name from Ecclesiastes 12:1, Romans 12:1, and Hebrews 12:1.

Gravity

9 a.m. on Sundays • Room 237/238

Bill Bliler leads this group in a study of a variety of topics. The name of this ABF is indicative of a desire for the Word of God to pull the group closer to Christ and to each other.

Meridians

10:45 a.m. on Sundays • Room 237/238

Led by Fred Pfau, the Meridians are currently studying the “small letters” by Paul and John. This ABF’s name represents the age span of the group (50+) being in the middle period—regarded as the highest point of health and vigor. They enjoy hosting monthly small groups, socials, and other activities throughout the year.

New Beginnings

10:45 a.m. on Sundays • Room 233

New Christians are encouraged to join this ABF to be discipled in the tenants of faith as laid out in God’s Word. Currently, Lisa Green is leading a study of the Pauline epistles.

Primetimers

10:45 a.m. on Sundays • Room 239

The desire of this ABF is to continue serving the Lord and others in the “primetime” season of life. Bob Bishop is leading a study of the book of John, taught by Dave Cook.

Saltshakers

9 a.m. on Sundays • Room 239

This ABF is working through an in-depth study of the book of Romans. Lowell Kivley leads this group, whose name comes from a desire to be the salt of the earth as God’s people who make a difference in their spheres of influence.

Seguidores ("Followers")

10:45 a.m. on Sundays • Dining Room

Led by Pastor Humberto Gonzalez, this ABF is for our Spanish-speaking attendees.

Three Strands

9 a.m. on Sundays • Room 234

Join with leaders Josh and Leslie Busch for a 10-week study on marriage, followed by an in-depth look at an Old Testament book. Marriage and raising children who fear the Lord is at the heart of most of this group’s discussions. This ABF’s name reflects a goal to foster marriages that are represented by three strands—husband, wife and the Lord—as prescribed in Ecclesiastes 4:12.

Women of Influence

10:45 a.m. on Sundays • Room 235

Janet Jean Dobda is leading the women of this ABF in a study of the Psalms—with in-depth biblical, light historical, and life application discussions—which will be followed by a study of 1 Corinthians. This group is made up of a variety of women: married, divorced, widowed, and single. All are welcome!
